In the late 19th century, Walloon Lake gained prominence as a popular summer resort destination. Wealthy industrialists and entrepreneurs from midwestern cities, such as Chicago, Cincinnati, and St. Louis began making the long trek to Northern Michigan by railway or steamship. Our Duffy boat has a nostalgic feel, similar to the passenger steamboats that would shuttle summer visitors on the final leg of their journey to their cottage, hotel, or boarding house on Walloon.
